Task: Assessment 1 overview Assessment 1 involves you preparing four short written pieces which are focused on the three core questions of the course: what is actually happening, how can it best be explained and how can we do better? These are designed to help you to practice basic professional skills involved in inquiry, like identifying and using intellectual resources (e.g. ideas, theoretical frames, research papers and   evidence), critical reading skills like identifying the key questions claims, evidence and assumptions made by an author), writing and forming an argument and editing for clarity and sense. These pieces are NOT comprehension exercises. We are NOT asking you to summarise the content of the readings). Your task, instead, is to work through the readings and lecture notes (and any additional reading you do) in your workshop and to present your own position on the readings, based on evidence and sound reasoning in the four written pieces. Part B  For this first writing piece you will need to write a single paragraph of approximately 200 words addressing the question ' what is actually going on?' in relation to the second topic we look at in this course and that is pill testing.
