Assignment Task

For this assignment, you will utilise SPSS to conduct data analysis of information collected from a dataset of Queensland Mental Health Services clients. You will analyse data in three specified areas and then write a brief report on each area. You will also respond to two short answer questions. 

Scenario

You are a new graduate researcher at the Amberly Mental Health Service. You have been given a dataset of Queensland Mental Health Service clients to analyse. These clients attended an intervention program designed to improve the participant’s avoidance coping strategies. The extent of avoidance coping was recorded at the beginning and end of the intervention program, with external aggression and internal aggression [hostility] also recorded at the end of the intervention program. Demographic data was also collected for each client regarding their gender and birth order. You have been tasked with conducting the initial analysis of some variables using SPSS and writing brief reports.

You will use the data set provided for you in the supporting resources section.

Data preparation

For the purpose of your report, you must use SPSS to draw a random sample of 800 of the 1000 observations. You will conduct your analysis on this sample of 800. Instructions on how to generate your random sample are in the supporting resources section.

Data analysis

For your assignment, you are required to complete the first three questions by producing the appropriate analyses and writing the relevant report for each question. For each of the first three questions requiring SPSS, you should include the relevant output, e.g. tables and graphs, with your report. Note that many of the variables have similar names, so it is important that the correct variable be selected to address the question asked.

You are also required to complete Questions 4 and 5, two short answer questions. Question 4 does not require SPSS. Question 5 also does not require SPSS, and no calculations are required.

You are required to produce the following sets of analyses. Each analysis should be accompanied by a brief report (each report should be no more than one page).
