The framework of Influence Case study
Vio is an IT organization with 10000+ employees worldwide. Based on analysis, it was found that there were less than 10% women with 15+ years of experience. The senior management was keen on diversity and inclusion and, hence was quite surprised by this fact. After much discussion, they brought in a KRA for the Directors that assessed their efforts in nurturing senior women leaders. They were assessed on how many women leaders have they mentored, and how many they have recruited and retained.
The Directors received this information over mail from the senior management. The senior management also knew that most of their senior leaders would not be very receptive to this change management initiative. Hence all HRBPs were instructed to have one to one meeting with their business partners to explain the need for the same and how they can go about it. Sarvesh was the HR business partner for Quality and Assurance division which comprised 2000+ employees. Vinayak, the Director of the division has been with the organization for 10+ years. When this KRA was communicated by the management through mail, he was not very happy about it. One of his managers, Mrudhula who had 16+ years of experience recently resigned citing the reason that she was denied promotion despite being deserving. He felt he would be impacted by this new policy. He called Sarvesh and expressed his dissatisfaction. He argued that this has been how it is in the industry and women tend to leave as they climb up the ladder as they find it difficult to balance work and family. He felt he is being accused for something for which he didn't have control over.
Assuming you are Sarvesh, identify your Framework of Influence: how many they have recruited and retained.

Assuming you are Sarvesh, identify your Framework of Influence:

2. What is the outcome you want to achieve?
3. What is the kind of relationship you have with others?
4. Which influencing approach would you adopt and why?
