Virtual Environment for Prototyping and Experiments Assignment

Assignment Task

In this assignment, you are required to construct a virtual environment using suitable techniques. Bear in mind that you might want to upgrade your prototype to be able to use headset and controller in subsequence stage.

1. Conduct a search of some related virtual environment images to get inspiration, and determine the style of your environment, whether it is realism, cartoony, stylized, etc.

2. Sketch a floorplan of the environment with accurate measurement in meter(optional if you are not constructing the main building).

3. Do a block-out inside Unity Editor using ProBuilder (optional).

4. Then construct the virtual environment with your own effort. You are required to model majority part of the environment or the bigger asset in the scene.

5. You can use ProBuilder or any other software to complete the modeling process.

6. Record a work-in-progress video while you are doing modeling. Marks will be graded by considering the number of original models that were built by yourself. This video will serve as proof of the modeling effort.

7. You can import ready-made assets into your scene to improve your scene.

8. Study different lighting techniques, then add lighting to suit your environment style.

9. Apply material to all the geometries, you can use imported textures.

10. Finally, add the standard third-person character that we used in first tutorial lesson into the scene, record the character moving in the scene inside Unity Editor to show the proportion. This character will be removed from the scene after displaying the proportion.

Your report should contain the following sections:

a. Introduction: Introduce your virtual environment.

b. Application design. Explain your overall design and concept. Use appropriate diagram, screenshot or chart. Include the reference images that you have searched, and the floorplan.
