Introduction of a test conceptThe following scenario is given: A company or organization would like to create an implementation (new implementation) for a certain hardware platform for an existing specification (e.g. JSR-392 Java SE 171) of a virtual machine.Other providers have already implemented this specification These are referred to here as the reference implementation (s). In contrast to Java VMs, assume that the program code or other information about the internal structure of these implementations is not available for any of the reference implementations. The reference implementations meet the given specification and are available as executable programs. The goal is that VM programs can be executed on the new implementation in the same way as on the reference implementation (s). Specification and implementations:

Use the following questions to describe (in the role of test owner) how you can ensure that the new implementation is tested:
a)  What types of tests (not test techniques) can in principle be carried out on the new implementation and the reference implementation.
b)  Assuming you have established 100% test coverage (of all structure-oriented coverage measures) through successful test cases for the new implementation. Justify or refute why the new implementation might (not) correspond to the reference implementation.If the new implementation does not correspond to the reference implementation, what could be the problem and what should be done additionally?
c) Assume you have only used specification-driven testing techniques to ensure that the reimplementation is performing as specified. What problem could be in the test cases themselves and how could this problem be resolved?
d) Assuming you do not want to use comprehensive specification-based test techniques or structure-oriented test techniques (e.g. for reasons of cost), but are only interested in the situations in which the new implementation of a VM program deviates from the reference implementation. What possibility would be offered for the given scenario?
e) Assuming the virtual machine should be able to process 256 different commands from the VM programs (Justify or refute why it is generally (not) possible to test each individual command and its associated function in isolation.What would have to be done so that z. B. the function of an integer addition instruction (iadd) can be tested in isolation?If the commands cannot be tested in isolation, what problem arises here with regard to the information content of a test. Go z. B. from the following expression: "1 + 1" (possible command sequence iconst_1 iconst_1 iadd)
