Introduction 

IT Project Solutions (IPS) is a Consulting firm providing online IT Business Service solutions to its customers. 

Recently, the CEO of the ‘Sports Company’ organisation commissioned IPS, to upgrade their outdated and  legacy type ICT strategies and systems, to a more contemporary model, giving the organisation a  competitive advantage in the market place. 

Note: ICT stands for ‘Information, Communications & Technology’ 

Project Organisational Chart and HR Management Considerations: 

The upgrade to the organisations project and operational policies, processes and products, requires a major  investment in an IT related program. This IT program will be responsible for managing the many related  projects under its banner. The strategy of running an IT program requires the establishment of a formal  project board, consisting of three human resources, each representing the interest from the User, Supplier and Business perspective. These three roles are accountable for all project related decisions: 

• The Senior User role (i.e. Customer representative on the project board), will specify the product  requirements and results. The customers operate, maintain and/or support the projects product  outputs, to the agreed quality levels. 

• The Senior Supplier role (i.e. represented on the project board by the Technical specialist or the  builder of the final product solution), who will provide the resources and the skills to do the work,  create and deliver the required products.  

• The Executive role (i.e. Business representative on the project board), represents the overall business  interest on the project, ensuring that the project is justified, validated and delivers a product,  meeting the desired benefits and value for money.  

The appointment of the Project Board is critical to the success of any program. The Project Board represents  all project stakeholders, and is accountable to corporate management for the success or failure of the  project (i.e. success defined by the business, user and supplier interests).  

Mary has assigned two of her most senior staff, Janice and Bryan, to work and collaborate with the third  party supplier, IT Project Solutions (IPS), to effectively plan, manage and execute this program consisting of  multiple projects, to a successful outcome for the business. 

The IT product manager, Nathan Smythe will be responsible for product delivery, with the added  responsibility of managing the Product delivery team. The project deliver specialist, Michael James will be  responsible for delivering the projects to successful completion within scope, cost, time and quality targets.  

To ensure effective project assurance, Mary has assigned one of her own people (i.e. Annie Lopez) the role  of change manager, with the responsibility to monitor all aspects of the project's performance independent of the IPS Project Manager and project team.
