• While many professional sporting organisations have seemingly survived COVID19, with leagues around the world returning to some sort of normality, the same cannot be said for more local & community-based sporting organisations. Estimated to have lost around $1.5 billion due to the pandemic, the Australian community and local sports sector, including many non-for profit and feeder clubs for the professional levels, continues to face a long road to recovery.
• Western Pride Football Club is a community-focused club which represents the growing greater Ipswich and Western Corridor of South-East QLD. It represents all aspects of the local community through fielding social teams for boys and girls, as well as more competitive teams that play in the women’s national premier league, and Football Queensland Premier League. Through its mission to be the premier football club representing Ipswich and the Western Corridor at National, State and Local levels, Western Pride has seen many of its senior players go on to play for the professional A-League and W-League in Australia, as well as international leagues including the Singapore and South African Premier League.
• As part of the club’s long-term vision, they hope to be granted a license to play in the A-League and W-League as a professional club. In order to achieve this, they have engaged you as a marketing consultant to look for ways to recover from the impact of the pandemic as quickly as possible. To this end, they are seeking advice on how to improve attendance at home games.
• II. Literature Review (~minimum 1100 to maximum 1200 words)
• Using both academic literature and business press, synthesise the literature on your chosen topic in your own words. What do we already know about the issue of interest? You should include AT LEAST ten (10) references, of which AT LEAST seven (7) should be from reputable academic journals.
