b) What strategies are you currently using to ensure that you have balance and how effective are these? 
c) In an ideal world, what strategies would you like to implement to achieve a perfect balance? 
d) Outline how as a leader/manager, developing and implementing your own strategies to promote work-life balance serves as a role model to others in the workplace? 

Question 2:
Describe what services or resources are available within your organisation to help you and others manage stress and maintain health?

Locate and read PD2016_040 NSW Health Managing for Performance policy. 

a) What is the purpose of the policy? 
b) Briefly summarise your organisations' process in regards to planning professional development
c) How often are professional development plans reviewed in your workplace?

How do you ensure that any work goals set by you or your team contribute to the overall direction of your service or organisation?

The ability to measure productivity and performance within the health workforce is critical for providing efficient and effective services. 

a) How do you currently measure your work performance?

c) Are there ways in which these measures can be improved? Provide examples

a) You have been seconded another department for 1 month to assist while a staff member is on leave. Describe the strategies you would employ to maximise your performance whilst working in a department of which you have limited knowledge. 
b) Give examples of questions you would ask key players in the new role to better understand the nature of the role.

As part of participating in this program, you completed a Myers Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) assessment to identify your natural preferences. 

a) Describe how your MBTI type impacts the way that you like to learn and the type of development activities that would be most appropriate for you. 
b) Provide some commentary about how the delivery of activities in the Diploma of Leadership and Management aligns with your learning preferences. 
c) Are there any changes that you would make to the delivery of the program to further enhance your learning? How do you think this change would improve your learning?

Assessment Task 2: Workplace Activity: Project

Instructions to the participant: 

In this task, you will need to answer the questions below by focusing on your own work performance.
 
1. Obtain a higher level of job description within your area of practice. Using the attached table and rating scale, complete a self-evaluation of your current skill/ knowledge against the key accountabilities of the role. (see appendix 1). 

2. Seek feedback on how you can develop your work performance. Distribute the survey (appendix 2) to a minimum of five (5) people including senior managers, colleagues, external stakeholders and peers. In addition to the survey questions in appendix 2, add a minimum of three (3) areas for development identified in question one (1) of this assessment task. 

3. Create a work development plan using the template attached (Appendix 3) that reflects the gaps identified in your self-assessment and the professional development you will need to undertake in order to cover these gaps and the timeframe required for each. Some of the development opportunities you may utilise may include things like structured training programs, mentoring, work placement, induction etc. 

4. Using the information outlined in your work development plan and feedback surveys, identify two (2) current networks and two (2) future networks that you will benefit from developing. Using appendix 3, provide a description of each network including how this network would develop your personal knowledge, skills and work relationships. For your current networks, provide evidence of your participation in this network.

For this task, you are required to provide evidence that demonstrates your ability to effectively prioritise tasks and organise professional development in line with your organisations' policies and procedures.
 
For each topic listed below, answer the questions and attach the required documents to your assessment submission.
 
Topic 1: Your personal work goals and current professional development plan
 
Locate and attach to your assessment copies of: 
• your most recent performance development plan (PDP) 
• your current position description 

Using your most recent copy of your PDP and position description, review your work and professional development plan and answer the following questions: 

a) Which strategic or operational plan(s) have you aligned your goals and plans to? 
b) Are there any goals or plans that do not align with a strategic/ operational objective? If yes, how might you re-work these? 
c) Please link your individual goals and plans to the key accountabilities in your position description. 
d) Research and provide an explanation of a commonly used model of learning styles. 
e) From your answer to (d) above, identify your personal preferred learning style? How do your development opportunities align with your preferred learning style?
