Assignment 1: Reflection
Reflective writing is a vital skill for nurses, which you will use and develop throughout your degree. Although reflective writing draws upon your personal understandings and beliefs, it is not enough to simply give your opinion; you must underpin this with evidence to show that your ideas are based on firm grounds and that you have explored them carefully.
For this assignment, we would like you to think about what 'professionalism' means to you as a student embarking on a nursing career. Drawing on the readings and lectures from module 1, and with reference to the wider scholarly literature, write a short paper that explores some of the characteristics that you believe a professional nurse should exhibit and the professional behavior that is appropriate to the role. You should use a minimum of four (4) scholarly sources to support your discussion.
The purpose of this task is for you to think about and articulate your response to this question, and develop a piece of written work. It will also provide you with the opportunity to access and interpret scholarly literature.
The paper is due by 3 pm on Friday, 20th March 2020. We recommend that you first submit your paper into the Academic Honesty unit, to receive a Turnitin report to check for originality. Once you are happy with this and have made any necessary changes, you will need to submit the final assignment into your dropbox in this MyLO site.
Extensions should be requested BEFORE the due date and time. Your tutor may approve an extension if you request these three days or more before the due date; after that, you will need to contact the unit coordinator. Please see your unit outline for an explanation about our extension policy.
